The delegation headed by Mr. Norayr Davidyan, Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia , visited Canada on October 21-29, 2004 . Minister N. Davidyan was accompanied by Mr. L. Yolyan, Deputy Minister of Health, and Ms. L. Mirzoyan, Leading Specialist of the International Relations Department of the Ministry.
During the visit the delegation had working meetings at the governmental and public healthcare institutions, as well as with the representatives of the Canadian-Armenian community health organizations, where discussed possibilities for further enhancing of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the health sector.
The Canadian side performed its experience in the health sector management which comprises the comprehensive system of license, the developed study network based on information technologies, the infrastructure established for exchanging experts etc. Both sides agreed on setting up of a mutual group of experts to elaborate projects of bilateral cooperation. Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with the health sector leadership of the Province of Quebec .
Specific issues of cooperation like provision of medical equipment for the Armenian healthcare institutions, elaboration of educational training and study projects were discussed with the Armenian community representatives.
The delegation had discussions on possibilities for further development of health sector information technologies at the Armenian Medical International Committee (AMIC) in Montreal and participated at the Symposium in Ottawa on the South Caucasus Health Information Project. |
