Members of the New Names Association Perform in Ottawa

Within the framework of the ongoing world-wide celebration of the centennial of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, on April 9, 2003 Armenian Embassy in Canada organized a concert by eight young members of the New Names Association at the First Unitarian Church in Ottawa. On the next day, the young Armenian musicians performed at the Parliment Hill in Ottawa.

Established in 1989 in Armenia, the New Names Association is a joint effort of the Association of Cultural Workers and Gevorg A. Momdjian Foundation. The Association’s mission is to seek talented young musicians in Armenia and promote their artistic talents both in Armenia and abroad.

Nearly 50 gifted children between the ages of 10-16 have participated in programs organized by the New Names Association. Diaspora organizations have collaborated with New Names Association in the past presenting select Armenian artists on American stages.
