The Armenian Embassy, along with a number of Embassies and High Commissions in Ottawa, participated in the 10th Annual Celebration of Cultures, hosted by Algonquin College on March 14, 2007. The members of the Armenian Students’ Association of Ottawa (ASA) volunteered to help organize the Armenia’s display booth.
The Celebration of Cultures aims to showcase different cultures, both with information and visual presentations, and attracts numerous visitors including members of the diplomatic community, students and general public.
This year the international event had more then forty participating countries. A trade show style representation on each country included cultural artifacts, traditional food, PowerPoint /video presentations and travel information.
The bright colours of the Armenian display, historical artifacts, inviting music and traditional foods attracted many visitors, some of whom were familiar with Armenia from similar previous cultural events. Others were new to Armenia and were eager to learn more about its history and cultural heritage.
The members of the ASA were ready to provide any needed information and guide people through the display. Many members of the Armenian community in Ottawa also attended the Celebration of Cultures at Algonquin College. |
