Ambassador Ralph Lysyshyn presents his credentials |
On November 20 H.E. Mr. Ralph Lysyshyn, the new Canadian Ambassador to Armenia, presented his credentials to H.E. Mr. Robert Kocharian, President of the Republic of Armenia.
During a meeting after the official ceremony President Kocharian congratulated Ambassador Lysyshyn on assuming his new duties in Armenia and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.
President Kocharian and Ambassador Lysyshyn discussed the current status of Armenian-Canadian relations. Both sides stressed the importance of a wider political dialogue, more active economic and commercial interaction, as well as of timely exchange of information. President Kocharian expressed Armenia’s interest in a continuing cooperation with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The important role of Canadian-Armenian community in the development of bilateral relations was recognized and stressed by both sides.
Issues relating to the peace negotiations around Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian-Turkish relations and other regional developments were also discussed.
