CPCS Transcom Limited, an Ottawa-based Consulting firm, has been selected to advise the Armenian Ministry of Transport and Communication on their plans to concession the railway.
The primary goal of the project will be to implement the concessioning of Armenian Railways, to develop guidelines for monitoring the concession and to provide training on lessons learned during the concessioning process.
Concessioning the railway will improve rail transport services and reduce the pending demand for Government financial support.
The Government is dedicated to this project in the interest of increasing efficiency and market responsiveness, and positioning the railway to support economic growth in Armenia.
The project will start in September 2007 and is scheduled to run for approximately 11 months.
CPCS will be working with two Armenian firms on this project, including Investment Law Group LLC of Armenia and the Armenian Public Relations Association.
CPCS advises railways and railway investors worldwide on developing strategies and programs to attract private finance, improve the performance of their transport services and enhance bottom-line performance. It was formed in 1969 as the consulting arm of the Canadian Pacific Railways — at the time, Canada’s largest private railway operator. CPCS was one of the first railway-consulting firms managed and operated commercially in Canada. Since then, CPCS has evolved into a separate, independent professional services firm with expertise in infrastructure development and an extensive international project portfolio. |
