Premiere screening of the film A LONG JOURNEY HOME |
On December 18, 2005, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with Saint Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church of Ottawa, the Armenian Cultural Foundation of Ottawa, the Armenian Relief Society of Ottawa and the Armenian Students’ Association of Ottawa organized the premiere screening of the documentary “A Long Journey Home” by “Stormy Nights Production” (Toronto, Canada) which recounts Canadian Armenian opera star Izabel Bayrakdarian’s first time visit to her ancestral homeland – Armenia.
The event took place at the Cadieux Auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada. It was attended by Senators and members of Parliament of Canada, representatives of the Canadian Foreign Ministry and other Governmental institutions, Ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Ottawa, representatives of cultural, youth and religious organizations.
In his address Ambassador Ara Papian attached great importance to further strengthening of the Armenian-Canadian cultural ties. He gave particular attention to the fact that during the period of time after Mrs. Bayrakdarian’s first visit to Armenia and due to that visit the framework of future bilateral cooperation in the field has been created. Mr. Papian also emphasized that a number of attractive cultural projects are currently being worked out for further implementation. |
