Mashtots Educational Fund of the Association of Armenians from Egypt

ASAThe Mashtots Educational Fund was established in 2005 by the Montreal Association of Armenians from Egypt. Its aim is to provide university tuition for talented students who are in financial difficulty in Armenia. The Association has appointed a committee in Montreal, as well as in Yerevan with the task of realizing this project together.

The Association is pleased to announce that the first five students selected jointly by the Montreal and Yerevan committees have successfully completed the academic year 2005-2006 at Yerevan State University. They are:

Lamara Haroutyunian - from Tavoush – Philology
Knarik Petrossian - from Spitak – History
Narek Zoulalian - from Yerevan – Oriental Studies
Meliné Avetissian - from Shirak – Theology
Nariné Chopikian - from Artik – Applied Mathematics

It is planned to increase the number of students to attain a maximum of twenty. The yearly financial allocation for each student is approximately U.S. $1000 which includes tuition and expenses required for textbooks and other necessities.

For the academic year 2006-2007, the five additional students will specialize in the following fields of study: chemistry, physics, biology, geology and archeology.
